Checklist before Judging Day
Be able to describe the important information about your research in less than two minutes.
Rehearse your presentation until you can "talk" it, not read it.
Practice in front of a mirror or have a friend videotape you presenting in front of your project.
Know what other researchers have found about your research area.
Think of possible questions that judges may ask you and be prepared to answer those questions.

On the Day of Judging!
DRESS PROFESSIONALLY!
SMILE AND SHOW ENTHUSIASM for your research!
When a judge comes up to judge your project, stand up, introduce yourself, and offer to shake their hand. Ask them if they would like you to tell them about your research.
If you don't understand a question the judges ask, simply ask them if they would rephrase the question.
Answer each question to the best of your ability.
If you don't know the answer to a question the judges ask, don't "fudge the answer"! It's much better to admit you don't know the answer.

Offer ideas about continued research next year.
Don't make "sweeping" generalizations about your findings. Be sure to state them carefully.
In your conclusions, don't eer say you "proved" something, or that something is "true/false","correct/incorrect".
Conclusions are ALWAYS...
The findings support (or fail to support) the hypothesis that....

Have some questions ready that you would like to ask the judges (problems you may have had and how they would suggest you deal with them, etc.).
Thank them for their time.

Don't chew gum or drink a soda when talking to judges!
